French Language Club: Manger en français
FRENCH LANGUAGE CLUB CAFÉ
Keen Grades 5 and 6 students joined a French language club on six wintry Fridays this term. In preparation, Elementary French teacher Tania created a café vibe complete with tablecloths, music, and flowers.
French Cuisine
Each club gathering featured a classic French treat. Café guests tried freshly-baked baguettes, croissants, crêpes with whipped cream and chocolate, pastries, and a variety of cheeses.
Conversational Club puts French vocabulary to work
This extracurricular club is a fun supplement to our Elementary Core French programme. Throughout these lunch-hour gatherings, students were encouraged to bravely converse en français to whatever degree they were able. All the while they had the support of handy vocabulary reminders on conveniently placed “chat mats”. Hot topics this year included their opinions of the foods that they were trying. In addition, they strategized about where they could buy some of their own to share with their families.
Joining cultural experiences with language practice
Manger en français integrates French language learning and culture, and encourages students to risk using French in spontaneous interactions — an excellent pairing with their core French language instruction.
